Pirate Netters Top Short-handed Pioneers

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth University defeated short-handed Lewis & Clark College 8-1 in women's tennis on Saturday afternoon at the Scotford Tennis Center for the Pirates' first Northwest Conference victory of the season. 

Whitworth improved to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the NWC, while the Pioneers fell to 2-2, 2-1.  L&C brought only three players to the match.

Aleah Kert and Kyndal Locati defeated Madelyn Landerfelt and Maca Vives 8-2 in the only contested doubles match.

Kert defeated Landerfedt 6-2, 6-2 at #1 singles, while Froukje Lakerveld topped Kendall Malone 6-2, 6-2 at #3 singles for the Bucs. 

Vives beat Locati 6-3, 6-2 at #2 singles.

Whitworth won all the other decisions by default.

The Pirates will travel to play at Whitman next Saturday.
