SPOKANE, Wash. - The Whitworth University women's tennis team beat Willamette 8-1 on Sunday at the Scotford Tennis Center. The Pirates are now 8-5 overall, 4-1 Northwest Conference while the Bearcats drop to 3-7, 1-3.
All three Whitworth doubles teams came out with victories. Erica Lee and Emma Jo Wiley took the #1 spot 8-3, and #2 Avery Liening and Jill Hughes won with an identical score. Madelyn Parkey and Kyndal Locati defeated Siena Ginsburg and Hannah Andres 8-6.
Liening, at #2 singles, swept Robin Pashek 6-0, 6-0 to give the Bucs their first singles point. Lee defeated Sarah Dean in the top spot 6-2, 6-1, and Hughes, Kirk, and Parkey all defeated their opponents in two sets.
The Pirates will continue NWC play in Tacoma, Washington next weekend, taking on Puget Sound.
