McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Whitworth University's three-match winning streak in women's tennis came to an end with a 9-0 loss at Linfield College on Sunday.

The Pirates fell to 3-4 overall and 2-1 in the Northwest Conference.  Linfield, the preseason NWC favorites, improved to 4-0, 2-0.

The Wildcats swept the doubles matches for an early 3-0 lead.  Emma Jo Wiley and Emily Sandquist lost 8-5 to Marisa Doveri and Michelle Ly at #3 doubles in the closest of the three contests.

Linfield won all six singles contests in straight sets.  Sandquist fell to Kelsey Bartlett at #4 singles in the closest individual contest.

Whitworth will return home to host Lewis & Clark and George Fox next weekend.
