SPOKANE, Wash. – Northwest Conference-leading Lewis & Clark defeated Whitworth 9-0 on Sunday at the Scotford Tennis Center.
The 20th-ranked Pioneers improved to 13-2 overall and 9-0 in the NWC. The Pirates dropped to 4-10, 3-6.
The closest match of the day came at #1 singles were Bella Hoyos pushed Summer Garrison, who is ranked #7 in the NCAA west region, before falling 7-5, 6-3.
The Pirates will play three matches next weekend. First the Bucs will host Bellevue CC in an exhibition match on Friday. Then Whitworth hosts Pacific (Ore.) in a key NWC contest on Saturday. Finally the Pirates host Lewis-Clark State on Sunday in their final non-conference contest of the season.
