WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Whitworth's three-match tennis winning streak came to an end with a 7-2 loss at Whitman in a Northwest Conference women's tennis contest on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates dropped to 3-3 overall and 3-2 in the NWC while the Missionaries improved to 6-2, 4-0.
Bella Hoyos and Morgan McDivitt earned Whitworth's points with individual match victories. Hoyos defeated Erin Bell 6-0, 6-3 at #3 singles while McDivitt pulled out a 2-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8) win over Jenna Gilbert at #6 singles. Both Hoyos and McDivitt are now 5-1 in singles matches this season.
Whitworth will play a non-counting exhibition match against Skagit Valley College on Friday (March 6). The Pirates return to NWC play on March 14-15 with home matches against Puget Sound and Pacific Lutheran.
