Pirate Women Beat HIU 6-3

FULLERTON, Calif. – The Whitworth women's tennis team earned its second straight win in California with a 6-3 victory over Hope International on Monday afternoon.

The Pirates improved to 9-1 while the Royals dropped to 3-14.

Bella Hoyos was the only Pirate player to win twice against HIU.  She and Hannah Wallin picked up an 8-2 win at #2 doubles.  Then she defeated Alyssa Penner 6-2, 6-1 at #3 singles. 

Saryn Mooney won her #2 singles match 6-0, 6-0 over Sabrina Miller.  Anabelle Burns won by the same score at #4 singles over Corinna Ramos. 

After a day off on Tuesday, the Whitworth returns to action with a match at Concordia (Calif.) on Wednesday at 11:00 am.
