Lindsey Russell

Lindsey Russell is in her second season as an assistant coach for the Pirate volleyball team in 2025.  She came to Whitworth from the Community Colleges of Spokane, where she served as an assistant coach during the 2023 season.

Russell played collegiate volleyball at Eastern Washington University where she was the starting setter for three seasons and surpassed 2,000 career assists.  She was a three-time Big Sky All-Academic team honoree.  Before enrolling at EWU, Russell attended Spokane Falls CC and started two seasons for CC of Spokane, earning NWAC East Region Player of the Year honors in 2019.  She led the Sasquatch to a pair of NWAC titles and a cumulative record of 76-2 over two years.  She ended her career second all-time in total assists for CCS with 2,322.

 Russell graduated from nearby Mead High School where she was a two-time First Team All-Greater Spokane League selection. She was also named to the Washington 4A State All-Tournament team and led the Panthers to a second-place finish in state as a junior and senior.

Lindsey’s dad, Dr. Ken Russell, played baseball for the Pirates from 1989-1991 and coached baseball at Whitworth from 1991–1993 while he received his master’s degree in education and his Principal’s Certificate. Lindsey’s mom, Shannon Russell, was assistant volleyball coach during the fall 1991.
