Kyle Hurst, a Spokane native who attended Ferris High School and Washington State University, is entering his fifth season coaching with the Pirates in 2020-21.

Prior to joining Whitworth, Kyle spent six years as an assistant coach for the Central Valley High School girls’ team. In his last year with Central Valley they won the WIAA 4A state championship. For the past six years Kyle has also been coaching with the AAU Eastern Washington Elite program. Every summer he travels to AAU tournaments across the country coaching high school aged boys.

For the past 11 years Kyle taught middle school science as well as health and fitness in the Central Valley School District. He lives in Liberty Lake with his wife, Jen, and 4 boys, Carter, Gavan, Owen, and Keaton.

Head Coach Damion Jablonski says:
"The sacrifices that Coach Hurst has made to help impact our student athletes is a direct reflection of his passion for the game and for teaching.   Kyle is such a steady influence on our bench and in practices.   He has also been a tremendous resource on the recruiting trail.  Kyle is about culture and winning, and he’s a large reason why we’ve been fortunate to do so much of it!"
