WHO WE ARE
With an already proud history and tradition, we strive to be the best place to play soccer in the Pacific Northwest and establish ourselves as a national power. We want our student-athletes to have a comprehensive experience where there is a commitment to academic achievement, development of Christian character, and athletic excellence. Through shared experiences and the implementation of core values and foundational principles, the experience with Whitworth soccer should have a lasting impact on the lives of our student-athletes.
A GREAT LEVEL OF PLAY
We are looking for players who have a high level of technical, tactical, and athletic ability. We often attract players who choose Whitworth over a mid-major DI school because of the environment and culture of our program as well as the overall fit our university provides.
SOCCER PROGRAM QUICK FACTS
- Since 2001, our program has won 11 Northwest Conference Championships and appeared in 10 NCAA tournaments, four Sweet Sixteens, two Elite Eights, and one Final Four. Our record during that time is 255-94-41 (.706%).
- Whitworth is a nationally ranked, private Christian liberal arts university in Spokane, Washington. Whitworth University is ranked No. 4 among the West’s best regional universities by U.S. News & World Report.
- Whitworth University has won the Northwest Conference McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports trophy the last 12 years. The Northwest Conference McIlroy-Lewis All-Sports Trophy recognizes athletic excellence among Northwest Conference institutions across all fields of competition.
- Whitworth Soccer plays and practices on all-natural grass fields!
THE RECRUITING PROCESS
HOW TO GET RECRUITED BY WHITWORTH
The following are some steps you can take to help in the recruiting process.
1. Contact Us: Fill out our recruiting questionnaire so we will have your information. Then follow up with a personal email to assistant coach Drew Williams at dwilliams@whitworth.edu.
2. Attend our Summer Elite ID Camp: Our Summer Elite ID Camp is the most important part of our recruiting process. It is the best way for you to learn more about our soccer program and university. You get to be at Whitworth for multiple days, interact with current players, and be coached by the Whitworth staff. At our camp, you aren’t just coming to play...you are coming to train in our environment and learn what it is like to play at Whitworth.
3. Send us Highlights: Although we don't typically offer spots based on video alone, it can sometimes be a good starting place for the recruiting process.
4. Send us Tournament/Showcase Schedules: If you will be attending one of the events that our staff attends, then send us your game times, field locations, team you play for, opponent, and jersey number. We like to see potential student-athletes play multiple times.
5. Visit Campus: You can get a campus tour, meet with Admissions, and spend time with the coaching staff. We do unofficial and official visits for juniors and seniors.
6. Watch a Match: It is of great benefit for you to see us play and get a first hand look at the level of play and the team's style. Hopefully, you can come watch us play in person. If not, ask the coaching staff to send you some match film.
TIMING
We spend the fall, spring, and summer of a player's junior year to identify and evaluate players who we think would be an excellent fit at Whitworth--spiritually, academically, and athletically. By late August of your senior year, the identification and evaluation phases of our recruiting process is complete and we begin to offer spots. We have finished our recruiting for the following year as early as September and as late as February. If you are late in the process, do your best to catch up. We have taken players late in the process if we think they are a good fit both as a player and as a person.
