SPOKANE, Wash. – Madison Carr's effort in the women's shot put led the Whitworth Pirates in their final tune up meet ahead of the 2026 Northwest Conference Championships on Thursday at the Whitworth Pine Bowl.
Carr won the women's shot put as part of the 2026 Whitworth Twilight and Alumni meet with a season-best toss of 45'-9.75". That distance is the fourth-best in NCAA Division III this season. Carr was also runner-up in the women's hammer throw with a mark of 171'-3".
Amblessed Okemgbo was runner-up to Carr in the shot put (44'-11.75") and also won the women's discus throw with a distance of 155'-4". Kylie Loveless finished in fourth place in both the hammer (160'-5") and the shot put (41'-2.5").
Brianna Tira cleared 5'-2.25" to win the women's high jump.
Lily Jones won the women's 1,500-meters with a time of 4:49.99, a season-best and a top-five mark in the NWC this season. Hannah Higens posted a personal-best time of 4:54.61 in the same event to qualify for the NWC meet.
Adam Sessions was a winner for Whitworth's men, reaching a distance of 188'-8", a season-best time that now ranks 10th in NCAA Division III. Cody Wheeler was fourth in the hammer with a 179'-2" heave, which is also a season-best and 27th in DIII.
Eddie Vu was runner-up in the discus with a toss of 166'-3". Kaden Hooper finished second in the long jump with a distance of 22'-7.25".
Whitworth will host the 2026 Northwest Conference championship meet next Saturday and Sunday (April 25-26) at Boppell Track in the Pine Bowl. It is the first time the Pirates have hosted the conference championships since 2017.
