NEWBURG, Ore. – Emily Brown finished as the runner-up in the heptathlon and three Whitworth men scored in the decathlon at the 2026 Northwest Conference Combined Events championships meet on Monday and Tuesday at George Fox University.

Brown posted the meet's best marks in four of the seven events for a season-best score of 4,483 points, only 103 points behind GFU's Makaylah Johnon who won with a 4,586.  Brown's score is just off the career-best 4,495 she had at the 2025 NWC Combined Events meet, where she took third place.

Brown closed well on Monday, posting the meet's best mark in the shot put (32'-10") and in the 200-meter dash (25.84).  She was in third place after Monday's four events.  On Tuesday she had the heptathlon's best mark in the javelin (112'-1.25") and in the 800-meter run (2:20.03).  The 800 was her highest point total (823 points).

Peyton Fox finished ninth and just missed scoring a point in the event for the Pirates.  Her best event was the 800, where she had the third best time of the meet (2:38.09).

In the decathlon, Jayce Palm finished fifth with 5,960 points, Mitchell Endicott was sixth (5,068) and Luke Weigum took eighth place (4,562).

Palm's best event was the opening 110-meter hurdles, where he had the second-best time of 11.14.  He had the meet's third-best shot put, pole vault and javelin.

Endicott had the decathlon's second-best shot put (38'-5.75").  Weigum had the second-best 1,500-meter run (4:49.85).

Brown scored eight points for Whitworth's women toward their final tally at the 2026 NWC Track & Field Championships April 25-26 at the Pine Bowl.  The three Pirate men also combined for eight points for the Bucs.
