AUSTIN, Texas – Ben Nyquist has concluded his men's basketball career at Whitworth University with one of the highest individual honors available to a student-athlete after earning a place on the 2026 NCAA Division III Academic All-America team, which is selected by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and released today.
Nyquist is a third team honoree. A senior business management major, he had a 3.98 cumulative grade point average through January's courses.
A two year starter at guard, Nyquest was the 2026 Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year after setting a school record leading the league in steals with 94 in 2025-26. He ranked fourth in all of NCAA Division III, averaging 3.36 steals per game. Nyquist averaged 11.7 points per game while making over 50% of his shots from the field. He also averaged 3.5 assists per contest and was one of the NWC's leaders in assist to turnover ratio (2.5 – 1).
Nyquist becomes only the fifth Whitworth men's basketball player since 2004 to earn Academic All-America recognition. He is the first since Ben College was a third team honoree in 2020.
