SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth capped the 2026 regular season schedule with a senior day 7-0 sweep of visiting Willamette University in a Northwest Conference men's tennis match on Sunday at Scotford Tennis Center.
The Pirates finished in second place in the conference standings with an 11-3 NWC record and 12-6 overall mark. The Bearcats finished 2-14 overall and 1-13 against conference opponents.
Whitworth claimed victory in all nine matches. Matthew Morrison and Ryan Ashley got things going with a 6-3 win in the No. 3 doubles position. Both matches on the No. 1 and No. 2 courts ended in a tiebreaker, with the Bucs coming out on top in both to secure doubles sweep.
Colby Cinqmars and Henry Preacher, the two seniors honored prior to first serve, claimed wins in their final match at Scotford Tennis Center. Preacher earned a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (10-3) three-set win to extend his winnings streak to eight. Cinqmars clinched the match with one of the most dominant wins of the day and his first of the season 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 6 position. Morrison claimed a three-set win of his own in the No. 1 match while Connor Judson, Ashley, and Matt Hossack took care of business in two sets.
The Pirate men will compete in the Northwest Conference men's tennis tournament on April 18-19 hosted by Whitman in Walla Walla. They will battle third-place Lewis & Clark in the first round.
