TACOMA, Wash. – Visiting Whitworth University secured a dominant 7-0 sweep over Puget Sound in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match on Saturday at the University of Puget Sound Tennis Pavilion.
The Pirates (13-6 overall, 11-2 NWC) swept the season series over the Loggers (3-15, 2-10 NWC) and extended their winning streak to five.
The Bucs claimed the first point of the match with three doubles wins. Faith Kert and Clara Todd won by the largest margin at 6-2 in the No. 1 position.
Whitworth claimed all six singles matches in two sets. Kert and Olivia Corbett were the most dominant, allowing their opponents to grab just one set point. Jordan Turner-Esposito cruised to a 6-1, 6-1 win and Audrey Judson finished with a similar result (6-2, 6-0). Josie Kellogg claimed a 6-3, 6-1 win and Paige Oliver played in the most competitive singles match, but got the job done 6-4, 6-4.
Corbett and Kellogg each extended their singles winning streaks to six.
The Pirate women will close the regular season at Willamette on Sunday at 10:00 am.
