MCMINNVILLE, Ore. – Whitworth women's tennis continued its strong run through the Northwest Conference schedule with a 6-1 win at Linfield on Sunday at Linfield Tennis Center.
The Pirates (10-6 overall, 8-2 NWC) earned their second conference road sweep of the season and swept the series with the Wildcats (1-15, 1-10).
Whitworth claimed the doubles point with a pair of wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Olivia Corbett and Audrey Judson earned a 6-0 sweep before Clara Todd and Josie Kellogg secure the point with a 6-2 win.
The Bucs won five of six singles matches. Judson, Corbett and Kellogg each took care of their opponents in two sets. Paige Oliver claimed a 6-1, 7-6 (6-2) tiebreaking win in the No. 1 position. Hannah Wells earned her fourth singles win of the season (5-7, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6)) from the No. 6 position.
Sam Balz secured a point for the Wildcats with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Jordan Turner-Esposito on the No. 2 court.
Whitworth returns to Spokane to host Goerge Fox and Lewis & Clark in its final home matches of the season on April 3-4.
