WHITTIER, Calif. – Visiting Whitworth women's tennis cruised to a 6-1 win over Whittier College in its third and final non-conference match in California.
The Pirates (8-6) claimed victory with the doubles point and five singles wins. The Poets fell to 1-6 on the season.
Josie Kellogg and Paige Oliver paired for the first time this season in the No. 2 doubles position and came away with a 6-0 shutout win. Audrey Judson and Olivia Corbett extended their doubles winning streak to double digits with a 6-1 win on the No. 3 court. Whittier capped the doubles session with a win on the No. 1 court.
Whitworth dominated its five singles wins. Jordan Turner-Esposito and Hannah Wells each earned 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in the No. 3 and No. 6 positions, respectively. Faith Kert, Kellogg and Corbett each allowed just one set point to their opponent. Corbett's win was her first from the No. 4 court this season.
Whittier's Paige Valenzuela earned a point with a 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8) three-set win over Paige Oliver in the No. 1 position.
The Pirate women will jump back into Northwest Conference play on Saturday at Pacific.
