SPOKANE, Wash. – In the first match of a doubleheader, Whitworth women's tennis fell 4-3 to Whitman College in a hard-fought Northwest Conference match on Saturday at Scotford Tennis Center.

The Pirates (6-3 overall, 6-2 NWC) had their six-match winning streak snapped while the Blues (10-2) swept the season and remained 9-0 in conference play.

Whitworth claimed the first point of the match with a pair of doubles wins. Olivia Corbett and Audrey Judson earned their seventh straight doubles win (6-3) in the No. 3 position before Paige Oliver and Jordan Turner-Esposito clinched the decision with a 6-4 victory on the No. 2 court.

Whitman took four of six singles matches to secure the match victory. The first three singles matches went the Blues' way, with Turner-Esposito pushing her opponent to three sets. Gloria Lau in the No. 5 position clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Corbett.

Judson and Kellogg led the way for the Bucs, each extending their singles winning streaks to eight. Judson dropped her first set 2-6, but battled back to win the second and third sets 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 4 position. Kellogg claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win from the No. 6 spot.

The Whitworth women will host NAIA opponent College of Idaho at approximately 4:30 pm.
