Pirate women sweep Wildcats

SPOKANE, Wash. – Whitworth University closed its first full weekend of Northwest Conference play with a dominant 7-0 sweep of visiting Linfield in a women's tennis match at Scotford Tennis Center on Sunday.

The Pirates (2-2 overall, 2-1 NWC) earned their fourth straight win over the Wildcats (0-6, 0-4 NWC), who have yet to find the win column.

The Bucs won each doubles match by at least three points. The most dominant victory came from Olivia Corbett and Audrey Judson in the No. 3 position with a 6-0 win. Clara Todd and Faith Kert earned their first doubles win of the season (6-3) in the No. 1 match.

Whitworth won all six singles matches in dominant fashion. Judson and Josie Kellogg each earned two set sweeps (6-0, 6-0) in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively. Paige Oliver dropped the first set in the No. 1 position but battled back for a 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 win. Hannah Wells made her first appearance of the season and took home a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 6 spot.

The Pirate women will look to extend their winning streak on at Lewis & Clark and George Fox next weekend.
