CORVALLIS, Ore. – Cam Schmidt broke one of Whitworth's oldest track and field school records in the 200-meter dash on Friday afternoon at the Oregon State High Performance meet, while Pirate throwers won four events on Saturday at the Linfield University Open in the first competitions since the 2025 Northwest Conference Championships.

Schmidt, the 2025 NWC champion in the 200 dash, went 21.26 to break the record of 21.34 set by Ray Fabian in 1973, a mark that had stood for 52 years.    Schmidt finished second in the event with a time that now ranks 16th in NCAA Division III.

Also at OSU on Friday, Cooper Rolfs finished sixth in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 49.98.  Jordyn Lungo took 12th in the women's 100-meter dash (12.70) and 23rd in the 200 meters with a season-best time of 25.66.

Madison Carr led the way for the Whitworth throwers on Saturday in McMinnville.  She won the shot put with a mark of 42'-11" and also led a 1-2-3 finish for the Pirates in the hammer with a throw of 164'-3".  Deven Chelin finished second (149'-4") and Kylie Loveless was third (137'-4").

Chelin got her own victory as Whitworth swept wins in the women's and men's javelin.  Chelin threw 134'-8" to claim the top spot.  Brandon Geck won the men's javelin with a distance of 196'-9", a new personal record.

On the track at Linfield, Emily Brown finished second in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a new personal record time of 1:02.63, which currently ranks 15th in NCAA Division III.  Isaac Akiyama was runner-up in the men's 800-meter run in 1:53.57, his second-best time of the season.

Whitworth will host its Last Chance meet on Wednesday this week before a handful of Pirates return to Oregon to complete at the Oregon Twilight and Portland Twilight next weekend.
