NEWBERG, Ore. – Emily Brown may have punched her ticket to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships next week in her final opportunity to qualify.
Brown raced to a win in the women's 400-meter hurdles with a personal record time of 1:01.92 that was 19th in NCAA DIII at the time of the result late this afternoon. The top 22 times qualify for the NCAA Championships. Brown is the second-fastest 400-hurdler in Whitworth history, second only to school record-holder Elizabeth Mattila (1:01.09).
Qualifying marks need to be officially submitted by midnight Easter Daylight Time tonight. The NCAA Div. III Outdoor Track and Field Championships run next Thursday through Saturday (May 22-24).
Tristan Hiller also established a new personal record with a distance of 190'-8" in the men's javelin. He finished second in the event. Brandon Geck (169'-8") was sixth.
Luke Davis finished as runner-up in the men's shot put (45'-6.5").
