SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth men's tennis team closed its season with a 5-2 win over Puget Sound in a Northwest Conference match on Sunday at Scotford Tennis Center.
The young Pirate squad finished the 2025 slate with a 6-14 overall record and 6-8 mark in the NWC. The Loggers closed with a 3-12 overall record and 3-11 record in conference play.
A pair of wins in the second and third doubles matches gave UPS the first match point. Ryan Ashley and Matthew Morrison took down the top Logger pair 6-2 in the No. 1 position.
Whitworth bounced back with five singles wins to take the match. Puget Sound's Jason Rowe defeated Morrison for the second Logger point. Morrison won seven matches in the No. 1 position as a first-year Pirate. Ashley ended his strong season with a dominant 6-1, 6-1 win in the No. 2 position. Easton Weir earned a 6-1, 6-4 win before Matt Hossack got it done 6-2, 6-2. Matt Froslan fought his way to a 6-4, 0-6, 6-4 three-set win. Colby Cinqmars also found himself in a three-set battle and earned a 3-6, 6-3, 6-3 comeback win.
The Whitworth men will play a final exhibition match against the Community Colleges of Spokane at 4:00 pm.
