SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth men's tennis team rolled to its second sweep over Willamette University in a Northwest Conference contest on Sunday afternoon at Scotford Tennis Center.
The Pirates moved to 5-5 in conference play (5-11 overall), while the Bearcats (0-10, 0-9 NWC) still seek their first win.
Whitworth took the doubles decision with a trio of wins. Matthew Morrison and Ryan Ashley opened with a 6-2 win before two 6-4 wins capped a doubles sweep.
All six singles matches were won in two sets. Henry Preacher and Matt Hossack each allowed their opponents to win just one set in a pair of dominant victories. Colby Cinqmars earned his first singles win of the season (6-2, 6-4) in the No. 6 position. The Pirates have now won 15 straight matches over Willamette dating back to 2014.
Whitworth will host Bellevue Community College in an exhibition at 4:00 pm tonight. Next weekend, the Pirates head to Oregon to visit Linfield on April 5th and George Fox on April 6th.
