SPOKANE, Wash. – Several Whitworth cross country runners completed their seasons on Friday afternoon at the Spokane Colleges' Sasquatch Invitational.
The Pirate teams, comprised of runners who will not be part of next week's Northwest Conference Championships, ran against Gonzaga and Spokane Colleges, along with several unattached competitors.
The men finished third among collegiate teams with 120 points. Gonzaga won with 26 points, followed by Spokane (78). A group of unattached Gonzaga runners was scored at 31 points.
Brayden Martin completed the eight-kilometer course in 27:51.9 to finish 32nd. Connor Tolzman finished 36th (28:21.1), followed by Luke Twiss in 39th (28:50.2), Carsten Myers in 40th (29:00.9) and Andrew Ta in 42nd (29:12.1).
With only two runners, the Whitworth women did not have a team score. Adison Carlson finished 27th on the five-kilometer course in 23:11.4. Rachel Zahn did not finish.
Ten Pirate men and ten women will race at next week's NWC Championships in Parkland on the campus of Pacific Lutheran.
