NEWBERG, Ore. – Amelia Hewson broke her own school record in the women's 100-meter hurdles and may have punched her ticket to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships during the George Fox Last Chance meet on Thursday.
Hewson won the event with a time of 14.17, breaking her own previous school record of 14.19 set in 2022. As of 8:00 pm on Thursday night, Hewson's time ranks 17th on the NCAA Division III list.
Hewson was also part of Whitworth's 4x100 relay and the Pirate quartet posted a time of 47.53, which did not improve on their mark of 47.10, which currently ranks 20th in DIII.
Renee Tiumalu won the shot put with a distance of 42'-6.25". Jordyn Lungo and Isabella Pereira finished first and second in the 100-meter dash with times of 12.59 and 13.08, respectively.
The 2024 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships will take place May 23-25 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
