Whitworth women win five events at Pacific Open

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Alison Ball earned two of the five event victories by Whitworth University's women on Saturday at the Pacific University Open track and field meet.

Ball finished first in the women's 100-meter dash in 12.46 and also won the 200-meter dash in 24.94, breaking her own previous school record of 25.02.  Jordyn Lungo took third in the 100 (12.55) and fifth in the 200 (25.55).

The Pirate women also got the other three event victories in the meet, including Madelyn Buckley's first place in the 5,000-meters with a personal record time of 18:21.25. 

Brianna Tira won the high jump by clearing a personal record height of 5'-3.75".  Renee Tiumalu won the shot put with a distance of 41'-5.75" and took sixth in the hammer throw (134'-5"). 

Whitworth's men also had some solid performances on Saturday.  Cameron Lantagne (10:27.36) and Will Moore (10:43.94) finished 3rd and 4th in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase.  Moore's time was a personal record.  James Dugenet had a season-best time in the 5,000-meters (15:27.57).

Eddie Vu was the runner-up in the discus (147'-9"), Cody Wheeler (152'-7") was third in the hammer throw and Alex Smith (45'-0.5") was fourth in the shot put.
