Pirates pound Pioneers 20-7 at WhitLax Classic

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Rebecca Irwin and Campbell Vincent scored five goals apiece to lead Whitworth to a 20-7 win over Lewis & Clark in a non-conference lacrosse match on Saturday afternoon at the WhitLax Classic hosted by Whitman College.

The Pirates improved to 2-0 while the Pioneers, playing an independent schedule in their first year as a varsity program, fell to 0-4.

Vincent scored three goals and Irwin had two in the first period, helping Whitworth jump out to an 8-1 lead after the opening quarter. 

Vincent added her fourth goal early in the second while the Pirates were playing a player down.  Irwin scored back to back goals later in the second to give Whitworth its first ten-goal advantage (12-2). 

Leading 12-4 at half, the Pirates scored the first four goals of the third quarter to move the match to a running clock situation.

Irwin added an assist to her total, giving her nine goals and two assists this season.  Vincent has eight goals.

Abby Hahn added three goals and an assist, while Kenison Turner also posted a hat trick with three goals.  Sierra Witte won seven draw controls and Kenzie Hemman had six.

Whitworth will play Corban on Sunday at 11:00 am.  The Warriors lost to Whitman 18-12 on Saturday.
