Women's Tennis handles Willamette

SALEM, Ore. -- Whitworth women's tennis won its third straight Northwest Conference match, cruising past Willamette 7-2 in Saturday's dual match at the Willamette Tennis Courts.
The Pirates (6-4, 4-1 NWC) won a pair of home matches 5-4 last weekend but made things more comfortable today against the Bearcats (3-6, 1-3 NWC) as they won five of six singles matches down the stretch.

Whitworth started off the day taking two of three in doubles; #1 Gracie Smyley and Oliver Paige won 8-5 and then #3 Olivia Corbett and Morgan McArthur were dominant in their 8-1 win over Alicia Sola and Eva Lief.

The Pirates were strong in singles as all five of their wins were decided in two sets. Smyley handled Alexa De Crinis 6-4, 6-2 in the top slot and #2 Paige knocked off Richelle Suzuki 6-4, 6-1. #4 Jordan Turner-Esposito beat Lief 6-4, 6-2 before #5 Audrey Judson and #6 Corbett both won their matches 6-4, 6-3.

Whitworth continues to look formidable to begin conference play, they will remain in the tournament picture no matter Sunday's outcome. The Pirates will close their road weekend at Pacific on Sunday.
