FOREST GROVE, Ore. – Whitworth women's tennis fell 8-1 at Pacific in Sunday's Northwest Conference match.
The Pirates (6-5, 4-2 NWC) had won four straight coming into the game, but the Boxers (5-2, 2-0) made quick work of the afternoon taking two of three doubles matches before sweeping the singles matches.
#3 Olivia Corbett and Morgan McArthur claimed Whitworth's lone point, knocking off Mia Yamaguchi and Valentina Casab-Klescova 8-5. In singles, #1 Gracie Smyley took Cassidy Binder to the third set but fell 6-1, 6-2, 6-1.
The following five singles matches were decided in two sets to clinch Pacific's second NWC win.
Whitworth will turn its attention to Orlando where they'll take on SUNY New Paltz, Augustana, and Kalamazoo, and St. Olaf on March 25-28 before returning to conference play.
