SPOKANE, Wash. – Competing against the deepest and most talented field of the season, the Whitworth Pirates held their own with several season-best and personal-best marks on Friday at the Whitworth Peace Meet on Boppell Track.
Alison Ball shattered her personal record in the 200-meter dash. She finished second with a time of 25.16. Jordyn Lungo just missed her season-best in the 100-meters by taking fifth in 12.58.
Madelyn Buckley and Lulu Brady both posted season-best times in the 800-meters. Buckley went 2:19.52 to finish 13th, while Brady was 19th of 2:22.80. The pair was joined by Carmen Winslow-Gonzales and Margaret Byle in the 4x400 relay to post a season-best time of 4:14.40 (fourth place).
Devyn Cope hit her PR in the triple jump with a distance of 34'-9.5" to take sixth place. She was also 11th in the long jump (15'-8.75").
Logan Spencer posted her own personal record in the shot put with a mark of 39'-3" to take 11th place.
Solo Hines continues to impress for the Pirate men. He finished as the runner-up in the 200 dash with his personal record time of 21.70.
Kainoa Figueira hit a PR in the men's 800 meters by finishing 11th in 1:54.74. James Dugenet took eighth in the men's 5,000 meters with his PR of 15:24.36.
Next week a few Pirates will compete at the Northwest Conference multi-event championships on Monday and Tuesday at the University of Puget Sound.
Whitworth will host its own Twilight Meet on Thursday, April 13th.
