SPOKANE, Wash. – Kimberly Dewey's 15 points were not enough as Whitworth dropped it's third straight, falling 83-58 to Northwest Nazarene in Nampa on Saturday.
Kendall Clark led the Nighthawks (3-2) with 18 points, but Beaux Bruegman, Cami Knishka, and Emma Clark also added 14, 10 and 10. Madison Gerber came into the game as the team's leading scorer but was held scoreless on four attempts.
Whitworth (1-3) improved their field goal percentage but could not keep up with the Nighthawks who shot an astounding 34-67 from the field, scoring 50 of their points in the paint.
The Pirates hung around early, but Northwest Nazarene went on a 10-4 run, eight scored by Clark, to close the final 3:25 of the first half to take a 13-point lead into halftime. Emma Clark hit shots on three straight possessions after halftime to put the Nighthawks ahead by 21, their largest lead of the game was 30.
Whitworth had their best performance from deep, knocking down seven threes at a 33% clip, but they were outrebounded and trailing for the entirety of the game.
Northwest Nazarene will be on the road against Point Loma on Friday, and the Pirates will begin conference play, hosting Willamette on Dec. 1st.
