FOREST GROVE, Ore.— The Pacific Boxers found their first Northwest Conference women's soccer win of the season by beating the visiting Whitworth Pirates 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirates (1-4-2 overall, 1-2-1 NWC) took multiple attempts to connect with the back of the net but could not get one past the Boxers' (3-3 overall, 1-3 NWC) goalkeeper Kylie Pascual.
Rhyah Jackson scored the game-winner for the Boxers off a pass from teammate Mireya Garcia in the 32nd minute.
Whitworth was competitive the entirety of the match, forcing three of Pascual's six saves in the final forty-five minutes but could not find a way to score.
The Pirates outshot the Boxers 10-6 in total shots taken and 6-3 in shots on goal.
Pirate goalkeeper Kate Nelson had two saves in 90 minutes played. Boxer goalkeeper Pascual finished with six.
The Pirates will look to turn things around next weekend at home with a pair of NWC matches. Whitworth will take on Puget Sound on Saturday and Pacific Lutheran on Sunday. Both matches will begin at 12:00 PM.
