NEWBERG, Ore. – League-leading George Fox rolled to a 21-2 win over visiting Whitworth in a Northwest Conference women's lacrosse match on Saturday afternoon.
Anna Chase scored both goals for the Pirates, who dropped to 3-5 overall, 1-3 in the NWC. Whitworth will play at Linfield on Sunday. George Fox (10-0, 5-0) remained unbeaten this season.
GFU scored nine first quarter goals to jump out to a 9-1 lead. Kyra Barnes, Sydney Thatch and Marena Tharpe all had two goals apiece in the period. Anna Chase scored for the Pirates in the first.
The Bruins added six more goals in the second period, including one more each by Thatch and Tharpe. George Fox also benefitted from a Whitworth own-goal to lead 15-1 at the break.
Bailey Faust scored both of the Bruins' goals in the third period.
Tharpe scored twice more for George Fox in the final period and led the Bruins with five goals in the match. Chase tallied again for the Pirates and she now has 12 goals for the season.
George Fox outshot Whitworth 33-7 and had a 20-7 edge in draw controls.
