MCMINNVILLE, Ore. —The Whitworth Pirates women's soccer team nabbed their first road win of the season blanking the Linfield Wildcats 3-0 in Northwest Conference play on Saturday afternoon.
Linfield (2-5-4, 0-4-3 NWC) had opportunities to score but could not get one past the Whitworth (3-6-2, 3-4-1 NWC) defense.
The Pirates struck first in the 23rd minute when Kalena Pfaeltzer connected with Savannah Acpal in the box who scored her third goal of the season.
Whitworth scored again after Baylee Trejo dribbled past the keeper in the 54th minute and tapped it in. Pfaeltzer was credited with the assist.
Camryn Gardner found her first goal of the season in the 88th minute after the ball bounced in front of an open net.
The Pirates outshot the Wildcats 16-15 in total shots taken and 13-6 on shots on target.
Goalkeeper Emilee Miller had ten saves in 90 minutes played for the Wildcats. Kate Nelson had six for the Pirates.
Whitworth will play next at Willamette on October 15th at 12:00PM
