Pirate men shutout Loggers 3-0

SPOKANE, Wash.— The Whitworth men's soccer team shutout the visiting Puget Sound Loggers 3-0 in a Northwest Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

The Pirates (7-6-2, 5-4-1 NWC) and Loggers (7-4-4, 3-4-2 NWC) fought to a scoreless first half before Whitworth dominated with three goals in the final forty-five.

Whitworth's Tyler Wisen found his fifth goal of the season off a pass from Sterling Eaglin in the 52 minute.

Eaglin found his own goal in the 63rd minute to give the Pirates a comfortable 2-0 lead over the Loggers.

Jamie Rodriguez was able to control a free kick that deflected off a Logger defender to find Jordan Voigt who scored the third goal of the match in the 77th minute.

Whitworth outshot Puget Sound 18-8 in total shots taken and 10-1 in shots on target.

Logger goalkeeper Ryan Saunders had seven saves in 90 minutes played. Andrew Wolotira had one in 83 minutes played for the Pirates.
