Whitworth Athletics Spectator Policy Fall 2021

Whitworth University and Pirate Athletics are excited to welcome fans back to fall sports. Fans play an important part in creating an exciting environment in which our student-athletes get to compete.  As we open our doors, the health and safety of players, coaches, staff and fans is a high priority. As such, we ask all fans to abide by the following guidelines and recommendations to create a safer environment for all.

Indoor Venues

·         No COVID-related capacity limits are in place at this time.

·         In compliance with Washington State and Whitworth University COVID-19 policies involving indoor gatherings, all fans are required to wear face coverings while inside the venue regardless of vaccination status.
                Exceptions:
                                1. Children 5 and under.
                                2. Those with a documented medical condition precluding the use of face coverings.

·         Fans are asked to physically distance themselves from others not in their household as much as possible.

·         Fans are asked to vacate the venue promptly following the end of the contest, taking care to avoid creating congestion in the exits. 

 

Outdoor Venues

·         No COVID-related capacity limits are in place at this time.

·         Fans are asked to physically distance themselves as much as possible from others not in their household.

·         Less than 500 people (Soccer, Softball, Baseball, Lacrosse, Tennis, Golf, Cross Country)-- In accordance with CDC guidelines, fans are encouraged to wear face coverings if they are unable to physically distance from others not in their household.

·         More than 500 people (Football, Track & Field)--In accordance with Washington State mandates, all fans are required to wear face coverings regardless of vaccination status

Whitworth University will continue to monitor changing conditions and adjust policies in conjunction with guidance from the NCAA, the Northwest Conference, Spokane Regional Health District and the Washington Department of Health.

Assumption of risk: Any public venue poses a risk for exposure and contracting of communicable diseases such as COVID-19. While precautions are being taken, Whitworth University cannot guarantee the absence of such diseases nor the viruses that cause them. Entrance into one of our venues indicates an assumption of these risks.
