TACOMA, Wash. – Johnathan Guglielmetti and Victor Loyola scored in the second half to lift the visiting Whitworth men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Puget Sound in Saturday's Northwest Conference contest.
Whitworth (3-4-1, 3-4-1 NWC) fought back from a 1-0 deficit at the half to earn its first road win. Puget Sound drops to 2-6-2 on the year.
UPS found the back of the net in the 24th minute. Marko Babiak headed in his shot with help from Graham Hall for the 1-0 advantage. All four of the Loggers' shots in the first half were on goal.
Whitworth tied it up in the 58th minute as Guglielmetti sent a free kick inside the far post from the right side of the field. It was the second goal of the season for the sophomore.
Loyola tapped in the match-winner 11 minutes later at the conclusion of a chaotic sequence to record his first collegiate goal.
Bo Broyles made four saves for the Pirates, while Blake Robertson finished with two for the Loggers.
Whitworth and Puget Sound finish off the weekend with another match at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
