SPOKANE, Wash.—Celeste Schreifels scored both of the Lewis & Clark goals to propel the Pioneers over the visiting Whitworth Pirates in a Northwest Conference women's soccer match on Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates fall to 5-3-1 on the season and 2-3-1 in the NWC. Lewis & Clark jumps to 5-3-1 and 3-2 in the NWC.
Schreifels' first goal was unassisted in the 10th minute. Lewis & Clark outshot the Pirates 5-3 in the first half. Pioneer goalkeeper Sophia Young recorded one save, and Whitworth goalkeeper Kate Nelson tallied three.
Schreifels' second goal came in the 60th minute from an assist by Becca McCullough. The Pirates outshot the Pioneers in second half 6-3, but were unable to capitalize. Young notched five saves in the second half for a total of six, and Nelson recorded one, bringing her total to four.
Whitworth finished with fourteen fouls to Lewis & Clark's seven. Each team had four corner kicks.
