Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. – A storybook ending was not in the cards for the three seniors from the Whitworth women's basketball team as visiting Willamette came away with a 67-56 Northwest Conference victory on Saturday night in the Whitworth Fieldhouse.
It was the final game for starters Grace Douglas and Erika Kuehn. Douglas finished with 10 points and Kuehn had nine points, four rebounds and four steals in their finale.
Ashley Evans hit six three-pointers and finished with 18 points while Britanny Kochenderfer had 14 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Bearcats (16-9 overall, 12-4 NWC), who finished the season third in the conference standings.
Camy Aguinaldo had 14 points, eight rebounds and four assists for the Pirates, who finished 10-15 overall and 5-11 in the NWC. Madison Moffat added 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals.
Douglas and Aguinaldo had eight points each in the first half to help Whitworth grab a 26-25 lead at the break. Moffat had seven of her rebounds in the first two periods.
Kuehn hit back-to-back three-pointers early in the third period to give the Pirates a 34-25 lead, forcing a timeout by Willamette. The Bearcats responded with a 20-7 run, taking a 45-41 lead on a basket by Kochenderfer. Evans drained four of her three pointers during that run.
Willamette continued to stretch the lead in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Pirates 18-11 by holding the Bucs to 0-5 from three-point range.
Senior post Chloe Quinnett, who has been injured nearly the entire season, was also recognized prior to tipoff.
