Strong Second Half Surges Whitworth Past Pacific

Box Score

FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Whitworth men's (3-1-1, 1-0-0) soccer trip to Oregon this afternoon ended on a a different note than their previous one. Pacific (0-5-0, 0-1-0), who remains without a win this season, succumbed to Whitworth in the second half on their home pitch.

Neither team scored in the first half. Cameron Bushey (Sr., MF, Spokan, Wash.) broke the silence with a converted penalty kick that put the Pirates up 1-0 in the 63rd minute. Although Bushey leads the Bucs in assists at three so far this year, it is his first goal of the season.

The Boxers stayed within striking distance the rest of the match until Anders Nostdahl (So., MF, Sandpoint, Idaho.) finished them off in the 89th minute of the game.

Whitworth outshot Pacific fourteen to ten, including a significant ten to five advantage in the second half. Brian Sherpe (Sr., GK, Centennial, Colo.) made four saves.

The Whitworth men continue their stretch of games in Oregon when they face George Fox in Newberg, Oregon tomorrow afternoon.
