SPOKANE, Wash. - The Whitworth men's soccer team (12-3-1) overtook scrappy Linfield College (2-12-1, 1-10-1) by two goals on Saturday afternoon.

Both points came from Cameron Bushey's (Sr., MF, Spokane, Wash.) expertise. He has a tendency to convert free kicks into goals and he did it twice in Saturday's match that recorded four yellow cards and a red over 90 minutes.

In the 26th minute of play Robby Ubben (Fr., F, Gig Harbor, Wash.) was fouled directly outside of the penalty box. Bushey and Taylor Willi (Sr., D, Grants Pass, Ore.) approached the dead ball to strategize on how to convert the opportunity. Bushey tapped the ball to Willi who returned it to Bushey who then snuck it into the lower left corner of the net for a score.

In the latter half of the match a red card was awarded to Linfield keeper Cody Tipton who used his hands outside of the goal box. He was replaced by Scott Goodman who racked up four saves against 21 shots by the Bucs.

Goodman's streak was not to last. Bushey stepped up to take a free kick in front of the penalty box and fired it into the right side of the net, out of Goodman's reach.

Brian Sherpe (Sr., GK, Centennial, Colo.) blocked three shots on goal by the Wildcats for his 10th shutout of the season. The scoreboard read 2-0, advantage Whitworth when the final horn sounded.

At 2:30 PM, on a Halloween Sunday, the Whitworth men will take to the pitch again for a match against Willamette University.
