McMINNVILLE, Ore. - The Whitworth men's soccer team (7-2-1, 5-1-0) finished out their weekend with a win Sunday afternoon over Linfield College (1-7-1, 0-5-1) 1-0.

The Wildcats have yet to win in conference play so far this year but they did not make it an easy win for the Bucs. Despite recording 23 total shots in the match it was Cameron Bushey (Sr., MF, Spokane, Wash.) who finally put a point up on the board when he converted a penalty kick in the 29th minute.

The Whit defense was much too powerful for the Wildcats however. Linfield only shot the ball six times and Brian Sherpe (Sr., GK, Centennial, Colo.) saved two of those from entering the Pirate net.

Linfield goalkeeper, Cody Tipton did his best against a barrage of Pirate shots and saved 12 total.

Up next for the Bucs is an in-state contest against Whitman College on the 8th of October.
