Scott Kramer

Whitworth University selected Pirate player Scott Kramer as the men's golf coach in the summer of 2017, replacing Heritage Gallery Hall of Famer Warren Friedrichs, who announced his retirement in February.  Kramer is now in his seventh year guiding the Pirates in 2023-24.  Whitworth finished as NWC runners-up each of his first two seasons and was in strong position for an NWC title in 2019-20 before the schedule was cancelled. The Pirates were once again runners-up in 2020-21 and 2021-22.

Kramer coached Derrick Phelps to the 2019 NWC Player of the Year and 2019 All-Region recognition and did the same for Reilly Hegarty in 2021.

Kramer previously served as the men's golf coach with the Community Colleges of Spokane for ten seasons, winning six Northwest Athletic Conference titles along the way.  His teams won 50 tournaments over the course of those ten years and he coached 36 individual medalists.  A five-time NWAC Coach of the Year, Kramer will take over a Whitworth team that finished third in the NCAA Division III Northwest Conference standings in 2016-17, won the 2017 NWC Tournament and returns six of its seven players in 2017-18.

Kramer was one of Friedrich's first recruits when the Pirate golf program was revived for the 2003-04 season.  Kramer played two seasons for the Pirates after spending two years with CC of Spokane.  He served as Whitworth's team captain and helped lead the Bucs to their first NWC crown in 2004-05.

Kramer continued at Whitworth as an assistant coach in men's basketball through the summer of 2007, helping former head coach Jim Hayford with fundraising, marketing, game promotions and recruiting.

The CC of Spokane hired Kramer in August of 2007 as the men's golf coach, the Athletic Marketing/Fundraising/Sponsorship Manager and P.E. instructor.  In addition to coaching a successful golf team, Kramer directed the Bigfoot Booster Club, coordinated the department's major fundraising efforts and developed athletic sponsorships in excess of $25,000 annually.

Kramer was inducted into the CC of Spokane Hall of Fame in 2011 as a captain of the 2002 NWAACC golf championship team.Â
