Mac Shaw

Mac Shaw, now in his ninth year on the Whitworth coaching staff in 2025, enters a his third season as the Pirates' defensive coordinator.  He had been the special teams coordinator from 2018-22 and he continues to have primary responsibility for the Pirates' defensive line.  Shaw is also Whitworth's recruiting coordinator.

In 2024 the Pirates ranked among NWC leaders in fumble recovers and takeaways per game.  Shaw guided a defense that led the Northwest Conference and ranked second in all of NCAA Division III in sacks per game (3.90) in 2023.  The Pirates scored four defense touchdowns.

During the COVID-shortened season of 2020, Shaw coached Nate RaPue to "In the Huddle" Division III Special Teams Player of the Year recognition.

Shaw graduated from Whitworth in 2017 with a degree in health science.  He played four years of football, becoming a starting defensive end and impact player by his senior season when he finished sixth on the team in total tackles, including 5.5 for losses of 31 yards.
