Derrick Phelps is in his first year as an assistant golf coach in 2025-26. He began his college golf career at the Community Colleges of Spokane from 2015 to 2017. He was part of a conference-winning team his freshman year, which was decided in a four-man team playoff at Walla Walla Country Club. His junior year was played at Saint Martin’s University in Lacey before returning to Spokane to complete his college golf career at Whitworth University. During his senior year at Whitworth, he was named Northwest Conference Player of the Year, earned All-Region Team honors, and was recognized as Whitworth’s Men’s Athlete of the Year. When he’s not working, he enjoys competing in local golf tournaments, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
