David Fern

David Fern is in his sixth year as the women's golf coach at Whitworth University in 2023-24.

Fern has led the Pirates to consecutive second place finishes in the Northwest Conference in 2022-23 and 2021-22.  The team had a third place finish in the NWC in his initial year, and the 2019-20 season was not completed due to Covid.  The Pirates finished fourth with an entirely new roster in 2020-21.

Fern is a PGA Teaching Professional at Downriver Golf Course in Spokane, where he has taught since the spring of 2013.  He had previously been the head men's golf coach at Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW) for one season (2008-09) before he left to pursue a professional career.  Fern played on the Gateway Tour and in several mini tours from 2009 through 2010 before returning to the Northwest.

Fern played two years at Pepperdine University before he transferred to Washington State University where he was the number one player his senior season before graduating with a degree in Sports Management in 2007.  He earned his Master's degree from Gonzaga University in 2012.

Fern was the Pacific Northwest Men's Amateur champion in 2004.
