Whitworth Women Take 3rd Place at PLU

PARKLAND, Wash. – Becky George finished sixth individually to lead the Whitworth women's cross country team to a third place finish at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational on Saturday morning on the PLU campus.

George finished the six-kilometer course in 22:51.40 to pace the Pirates across the line.  Kaylee Mitchell of Seattle Pacific was the winner with a time of 21:04.40.

Krystal Roberts was 13th in 23:21.40 and Karina Olson took 19th in 23:56.40.  Isabelle Snyder (24:58.90) was 34th and Mary Neder (25:04.50) took 37th.

SPU dominated the women's meet with 24 points.  The final team scores were: Seattle Pacific 24, Whitman 64, Whitworth 103, George Fox 127, Lewis & Clark 130, Puget Sound 147, Pacific Lutheran 149, Green River CC 218, Everett CC 266.

The Pirate men finished sixth out of eight teams on Saturday.  The men's team scores were: SPU 40, Pacific Lutheran 71, Lewis & Clark 87, George Fox 90, Whitman 112, Whitworth 120, Puget Sound 178, Green River 221.

Joel Mott took 8th place for the Bucs with a time of 26:18.80 on the eight-kilometer course.  Puget Sound's Colin Monaghan won with a time of 25:20.40.

Aidan Smith (27:15.30) was 25th, while August Albers (27:16.60) was right behind in 26thCaleb Grode (27:23.50) crossed in 30th place and Gabriel Meek (27:42.00) was 34th.

Whitworth will race next at the Charles Bowles Invitational, hosted by Willamette on October 5th in Salem, Ore.
