Pirate Women Pick Up ITA Academic Honors

SPOKANE, Wash. – Seven members of the Whitworth women's tennis team received individual academic honors and the entire team was recognized for academic success, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association which released its NCAA Division III academic awards last week.

Jennifer Adams (Fr., Renton, Wash.), Caylee Lamm (Jr., Spokane Valley, Wash.), KC McConnell (Jr., Clarkston, Wash.), Morgan McDivitt (Sr., Cut Bank, Mont.), Saryn Mooney (Sr., Centennial, Colo.), Taylor Peña (J4., Medford, Ore.), and Ashley Winslow (So., Clovis, Calif.) all achieved ITA Scholar Athlete status for 2015.  In order to earn that status a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and have been enrolled at her present school for at least two semesters.

It is the fourth straight year for McDivitt and Mooney to receive the award, while Lamm, McConnell, and Peña all earned the honor for the third year in a row.  Winslow is a repeat winner as well.

The women's team also earned the ITA All-Academic Team award.  That award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form and have competed in one or more varsity matches must average into the GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2014 and spring 2015).
