SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth women's golf team closes the fall season competing at the Whitman Invitational in Walla Walla this coming weekend.
Tee times on Saturday begin at 10 a.m. and on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will be held at the Wine Valley Golf Club and the Veterans Memorial Golf Course.
Whitworth had a strong performance at the first Northwest Conference event. The Pirates finished in second place at the NWC Fall Classic last weekend with three members finishing among the top ten. Cheyenne Marchand (80-72 – 152) was the Pirates' top individual performer taking fourth place. Allie Slingsby (81-72 – 153) finished one stroke behind Marchand, tying for fifth. Maggie Peters (83-79 – 162) tied for ninth.
George Fox finished well ahead of the competition to earn the team title. Rachel Drgastin (72-76 – 148) of GFU earned medalist honors. The NWC Fall Classic counts as 25% of the final standings.
Whitworth took third at the Whitman Invitational last year. Peters was the Pirates' top individual finisher, placing ninth.
The Pirates will resume the 2019-20 season in March. The spring schedule includes the NWC Spring Classic and the NWC Tournament.
