SPOKANE, Wash. – The Whitworth women's golf team is headed to Woodburn, Oregon to compete in the Northwest Conference Fall Classic this weekend at the OGA Golf Course.
The NWC Fall Classic counts as 25% of the final league standings.
The Pirates are coming off a seventh place finish out of eight teams at the Culturame Classic last weekend. The Bucs were in fourth after the first day but dropped three spots on the second. Allie Slingsby was Whitworth's top individual finisher, placing 11th.
Whitworth took fourth at the NWC Fall Classic last year, led by Slingsby's tenth place finish. Cheyenne Marchand, Maggie Peters and Ali Brandt also participated in the tournament held at the Michelbook Country Club. George Fox won the team title with all five participants finishing within the top-ten.
Peters and Marchand both have experience on the OGA Golf Course, the site of this year's tournament. As freshmen, they were part of the team that won Willamette Spring Thaw. Peters took second shooting 79-81 – 160 and Marchand (90-98 – 188) tied for 14th. Brandt competed on the course as a non-counting individual placing 22nd.
After this weekend, the Pirates finish off the fall schedule at the Whitman Invitational in Walla Walla on Oct. 19-20.
