Whitworth Golf Heads to Whitman Spring Invitational

The Whitworth men's and women's golf teams are back in action this weekend at the Whitman College Golf Spring Invitational in Walla Walla.

Saturday's round will be played at Veterans Memorial Golf Course in a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Sunday's round will be at Wine Valley Golf Course with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.

Whitworth joins fellow Northwest Conference teams Whitman, Puget Sound and Lewis & Clark in the seven team field. Lewis-Clark State College, Trinity Lutheran and Walla Walla Community College round out the field for the 36-hole competition.

Last Time Out: The Pirate men won the NWC Spring Classic at the windy Canyon Lakes Golf Course on April 5-6, while the women tied for second place. Senior Stephen Plopper earned medalist honors after lowering his second round score by a stroke and sophomore Oliver Rudnicki tied for second place. For the women, junior Nicole Lomax finished fourth, while freshman Michal Schuster tied for seventh in the player standings.

Next Up: The Pirates travel to Oregon for the NWC Championships, hosted by George Fox University at OGA on April 26-27.
